User talk:W~enwiki
Hi W. Allow me to extend to you a slightly belated welcome to Wikipedia. I see you've done a little behind-the-scenes link fixing. Such work often goes unnoticed, but it is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, browse through the Wikipedia:Help pages or ask a question at the Wikipedia:Village pump -- Stephen Gilbert 12:40 Oct 22, 2002 (UTC)
Hi, Thanks for trying to improve the article by removing irrational deductions, assumptions and original research. I noticed you removed the following three sentences from the article:
- Given the large search tree, knowledge and pattern recognition seem to be more important than look-ahead search
- (The pattern of brain activity observed ... does not show large differences between Go and chess) probably due to the fact that both games engage pattern recognition mechanisms
- (the research ... showed greater activation in the right hemisphere among Go players than among chess players) which suggests that Go calls upon intuitive functions more.
I agree with the second statement being removed because "probably because" certainly doesn't sound encyclopedic. However, the references in the article make many references to pattern recognition in Go as opposed to chess. Also, right hemisphere activity is often associated with intuitive functions, which supports the third statement.
I'm willing to work together and I think the first statement should definitely change to something like:
- Given the large search tree, knowledge and pattern recognition seem to be more important than in other strategy games such as Chess.
What do you think? Send me a message or lets discuss it in more detail in the article's talk page.--– sampi (talk•contrib•email) 04:51, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called W. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name W~enwiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
