Stone circles and fiction
[edit]Anyone constructed a list of stone circles appearing in stories, films and other works? (There must be more than Children of the Stones.) Could be extended to include hill figures carved into chalk and other such phenomena. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.85.6.26 (talk) 18:43, 14 July 2005 (UTC)
Eurocentric view
[edit]I have edited to include more focus on stone circles in non-European countries. Megalithic stone circles are a big topic in Europe and especially UK and the article looked like it was written primarily from that perspective. We already have Stone circles in the British Isles and Brittany and Stone circle (Iron Age) articles focussed on European details -- and concentric and recumbent going into even more detail -- so possibly some of the text from the Europe section of this page should move out to some of those (if it doesn't already repeat them). But the current page's title is 'stone circles' so the page should be about the general phenomenon rather than just a local version. North american medicine wheels are of particular interest as there is still some cultural memory of how they are used by first nations people. I have not deleted any text, just moved it around.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.30.195.234 (talk) 10:43, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
- Strongly disagree. A format of development and type is far more insightful than a TOC based on geographic location, esp as the density is very much Northern Europe. Ceoil (talk) 23:02, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
- North american medicine wheels are a totally different thing. Ceoil (talk) 23:03, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
