Thanks for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and has now been removed. Please use Wikipedia:Sandbox for any other tests you want to do, since testing material in articles will normally be removed quickly. Please see the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks.

Please do not create articles with only an interwiki link. The new article needs to have at least a stub's content in English first. Thanks!  – Jrdioko (Talk) 02:06, 3 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia!

Here are some tips to help you get started:

Good luck!

P.S. One last helpful hint. To sign your posts like I did above (on talk pages, for example) use the '~' symbol. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes), or, to insert your name and timestamp, use ~~~~ (4 tildes).

hi, jrdioko, i am not testing. i am seriously bridging china-related topics to chinese wikipedia.Tian 02:05, 3 Jul 2004 (UTC)

I realize that now. Please see my comment above. Links to the Chinese Wikipedia are great, but only if an article also exists on the English version.  – Jrdioko (Talk) 02:08, 3 Jul 2004 (UTC)
I think a cross-language interwiki link as a start instead of the widely-accepted stub should be ok. Because such link also pushes and encourages the later contributers and shows useful hint. How come an empty entry is acceptable but a cross-language interwiki link in it is not?Tian 02:15, 3 Jul 2004 (UTC)
I couldn't find any policies with a direct statement that such pages were not allowed, but several of them (especially references to sub-stubs) made it sound that way. A sole interwiki link might encourage contribution in a way, but it displays wrong on the page and those searching for that topic in the English Wikipedia would be taken to an article with just a few Chinese characters and no information. An empty entry falls under the same category and should not be included in Wikipedia either. What situation led you to believe that an empty entry is acceptable? I'm probably not giving you the best answer to your question, so maybe you should ask on Wikipedia:Help desk to get a more detailed answer from other contributors. Thanks!  – Jrdioko (Talk) 02:59, 4 Jul 2004 (UTC)
