Text for editing/merging
[edit]Xalapa-Enríquez is the state capital of Veracruz, located 320 km. from Mexico City, 15 km. from Coatepec, and 110 km from the port of Veracruz.
Nahuatl spellings
[edit]I do not think we can actually apply modern Nahuatl rules to old Nahuatl names like Xalapa. Mainly after the Castellanization of the name. Keeping the concrete word like "Xalli" and "Apan" would be the best and more balanced thing to do.

Nahuatl spellings
[edit]The Nahuatl spellings with a double l are wrong if the etymology offered is right. The stem xal 'sand' has only one l. The "absolutive" form xalli has a double l because the second l is from the suffix (which is tli after other consonants). Thus xal-a-pan is 'sand-water-place' is correct, not *xall-a-pan. If the name comes from xal-lan 'sand-place' (the suffix appears as -tlan after other consonants), the 'l' would be double, but then the non-appearance of the n would have to be explained, as well as (less critically) the doubled locative. Anyway, I'm fixing the spellings.

Good Article review
[edit]I am providing this review here, since a formal GA was never started. Please follow the instructions at WP:GAN for any future GA nomination.
This article does not yet meet GA criteria for the following reasons:
- References are still missing in most sections. Every place where there is a hard fact (e.g. statistic, number, date, etc.), a citation to a Reliable Source must be provided, per WP:V.
- Images need to follow the guidelines at WP:MOSIMAGE. Further, it's best if the images are not hard-sized and if they are, they should not hard-sized smaller than 300px.
- Lists, with the exception of sister cities, should be reworked into readable prose. The list of notable people should also include references verifying each person's notability.
- You may want to consider breaking the article down into sub-articles per WP:SUMMARY
Please submit for GA nomination again when ready. Best, epicAdam(talk) 18:49, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Further Information
[edit]Hi, I tried adding new information about Los Lagos and the famous tree called 'El Árbol' as well as something about the horrible traffic in the city, but it was removed by cluebot. I followed the instructions, re-inserting the text, and deleting the message from cluebot on my user talk page, but the information I added has been disappeared again, and I have a message saying, "Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles, as you did to Xalapa with this edit. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. Optakeover(Talk) 05:02, 13 March 2015 (UTC)" Firstly, it is unfair to accuse somebody of adding incorrect information when this is not the case. Secondly, not all facts can be referenced, for example, the fact that many people enjoy sliding down the zip line over one of the lakes in Los Lagos: where am I supposed to find a source to quote for that? Thirdly, this edit is part of a project I have been running to use the internet to encourage my teenage English language students to write in English. They created the paragraphs using their local knowledge of the city, and I would like to add them.
