User:R3m0t/Article validation
Appearance
Goals
[edit]- Allowing an article to reach a certain level of validation which means it is accurate at least to a certain degree, i.e. not having it a "yes/no" process or a "7/10" process.
- Simple
- Some basic filtering of users is used, but it isn't automatic and there isn't a complex trust-based system (which takes CPU and IMO wastes editors' time)
Outline
[edit]- Teams can be created (probably by sysops based on community discussion), such as:
- real (basic "this-is-not-vandalism" checking - perhaps people can be entered when they recieve their welcome message)
- sp (spellchecking team, the most important)
- valid (a team checking for fairly basic validity)
- stable (a much more thorough team which checks articles far less frequently, for a certain word from people in Wikipedia that the entry is completely correct)
- fa (marking things that went through the WP:FA process as "fa")
- wp1dvd, wp1cd, wp1paper (approving things from "valid", "stable" etc for inclusion to certain media, based on notability)
- sp (spellchecking team, the most important)
- real (basic "this-is-not-vandalism" checking - perhaps people can be entered when they recieve their welcome message)
- Any person in the team can mark ("seal") a revision of an article with that team's "seal of approval"
- Although the person is considered to be acting for the team, their identity is recorded
- This is restricted as shown in the tree above, i.e. a revision must be sealed by "real" before being sealed by "sp"
- The user can simultaneously seal an article with "sp" and "simple" as long as they belong to both groups.
- Some seals require two (or even more) people; there can be a list of articles which have only part of a seal (eg 1 of 2 people) for use by others in the team
- The team might also want to manually maintain a list of articles they want to validate by bringing it up to their standards.
The page for approving might look something like this (for people in teams real, sp and valid, and a page which was marked real already):
