Isn't Buddha quite clearly not a diety of Buddhism? Sometimes it recognizes dieties, but Buddha is always just a person who attained enlightenment. -- PM 19:56, 16 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

True. Buddhism is essentially an atheistic religion, one that doesn't promote a belief in a god or gods. But Joseph Campbell called it the closest existing belief system to a universal religion. IamthatIam 18:56, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge?

[edit]

Certainly merge. What else do we mean by the divine but God?

I am concerned about merging the pages, as, Divine may not specifically refer to the 'God' of any given religion, but that of a Saviour or Messiah. Eps0n 05:38, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AfD

[edit]

I think the article is redundant of Names of God, and everything in the other article that was valuble has been included into that article. Feel free to vote at the AfD here. -- Wikipedical 19:07, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
