Orsay
[edit]1. Orsay couldn't have been a commune at that time, but a village.
2. Should this world history notice the first mention of every european village (even if Orsay is now populated because it's a suburb of Paris)? --[[User:|Rémi Castérès]] (talk) 21:14, 5 February 2011 (UTC) - — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brasileirinhas Messi (talk • contribs) 02:14, 24 October 2017 (UTC)

Should Christian term AD (Anno Domine or year of the lord) changed to secular C.E. (Common Era)
[edit]The term AD, anno domine or the year of our lord is a Christian one and is no longer appropriate in scholarly context. The preferred nomenclature is the term CE or, Common Era. OR BCE in place of BC for before common era.
Even the very first line of the lead refers to it as being part of the common era.
I'm sure this is a convention that all or most pages for specific years use. So, I definitely understand that to really address this proper would be a monumental task more than simply changing the title, and replacing all instances of AD or BC with the appropriate term. I don't know how many pages there are for years, but I imagine there is at least one for each of the 12,025 years since the holocene began.
Unless Wikipedia has some secret GREP type function for mass editing reserved for staff.
I realize that most people use the terms AD and BC and are unfamiliar with the terms CE and BCE. But, a redirect can remedy that. But again, that's a LOT of pages to do that for. VoidHalo (talk) 17:41, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
