As it is impossible to make a compromise on Silesia, an article dealing with the historical Silesia (Schlesien) has to be written. Silesia is referring to more than the Polish province named Slask after 1945. Nico 18:06, 31 Oct 2003 (UTC)

As you were unable to force your own point of view on Silesia, you take partisan action and wrote your own artciel which carefully omits any sentences which could imply that Poland has some historical rights to Silesia (so only German history mentioned in introduction) szopen

This article is not dealing with the Polish Silesia after 1945, but with the historical (German) Silesia. Nico 19:14, 3 Nov 2003 (UTC)

So, this is the article not dealing with historical Polish Silesia 990-1343, not with historical Bohemian SIlesia 1343-1525, but only with historical German Silesia? Gimme a break. I don't see it in history section. In fact whole of artcile is exact copy of Silesia article and is just, well, nonsense, as "Silesia" is not about Polish Silesia after 1945, but about whole region, so your article is superfluous. szopen

Maybe this should be ranamed to Silesian province of Prussia

No, because the article is dealing not only with the time as Prussian province, but the last (almost) 700 years of German rule in Silesia. Nico 09:37, 7 Nov 2003 (UTC)

Nico, what 700 years? WHAT 700 YEARS? Are you counting times when Silesia was governed by Polish kings or when itr was governed by HUngarians or other Bohemians as time of GERMAN rule? Then i must say that your conception of German is VERY broad.

Second 1945-700 = 1245. This is while most of historians agree that German colonisation started after 1270 or so, and while majority or large part of Silesia was governed by Poles (SIlesian dukes), inhabited by Poles well into XVI century. Indeed, German SIlesia. And still some call ME nationalist.

Why limit yourself to 700 years, Nico? Maybe just wrote Silesia was always German province. Or That Silesia was happy German province and then those blood-thirsty Polish monkeys received it from Stalinist gang.

Note that the only contribution of this artcile it to add "Silesia was German for 700 years" sentence. szopen

  • Schlesien It seems to me, that we have 2 different articles abot the same (Silesia and Schlesien are the same.! I think we should merged them together and redirect Schlesien to Silesia or delete. AM
    • They most likely should be merged, but I see no case for deletion of anything, so Wikipedia:Duplicate articles seems like a better place for this. --Delirium 09:46, Nov 3, 2003 (UTC)
    • "Schlesien" definitely does not have a place in the English Wikipedia since it's not the English name for the place and never has been (unlike Danzig/Gdansk!). Merge it with Silesia. -- Arwel 10:36, 3 Nov 2003 (UTC)
    • Merge with Silesia, but with care since Silesia is currently protected due to a neutrality dispute. Keep as a redirect. Onebyone 11:00, 3 Nov 2003 (UTC)
    • Delete. No need of merge, since it seems just that someone get irritated over discussion over Silesia and wrote his own article basde on older version of Silesia article instead. [[user::szopen|szopen]].
      • Are you surprised? Really? A more co-operative attitude could have avoided this. Listing the page here seems rather to be a step in the ongoing German-Polish struggle on how wikipedia should relate to the effects of the Oder-Neisse line. If wikipedia exerts in neglecting and belittling the pre-1945 inhabitants, of which quite few are still alive as ex-pats, where would you expect the supressed POV to pop up? Compare to how wikipedia handles similar areas, as for instance Karelia, Trieste or Northern Schleswig. The deletion of Schlesien would be of no use and do no good unless the dispute be solved at Talk:Silesia. Revert to the redirect instead, protected if neccessary.--Ruhrjung 12:43, 5 Nov 2003 (UTC)
        • I am not surprised. SOmeone was unable to insert his POV that Silesia is German province since the dawn of history, so he made his own page. Don't try to "you nationalist Pole" me here. I was not belittling history of pre-1945, i proposed a dozen of compromises and instead was faced with accusations, the same sentence repeated with little rewording etc. szopen
    • Nothing to merge there. Just redir to Silesia. --Wik 23:04, Nov 4, 2003 (UTC)
    • Rename to Silesian province of Prussia - the article could contain some historical background, history of German colonization in Silesia, history of Prussian claims and attempts to acquire some territories in Silesia, the Silesian wars and concentrate on the description and history of the Prussian province of Silesia (1742-1945), temporarily divided into two provinces of Upper Silesia and Lower Silesia. --CC, 05:45, Nov 7, 2003 (UTC)

Removed from VfD because VfD is not wikipedia:duplicate articles. See wikipedia:deletion policy, wikipedia:redirect. Martin 22:34, 8 Nov 2003 (UTC)
