Holiday Train
[edit]There seems to be some confusion about whether Scott Moffatt participated in the Holiday Train program. Given that the press release only mentions Bob and Clint and none of the photographs on CPR's website show Scott, it appears that he did not participate in any official capacity. It would be very odd for Scott to have been a tour participant without any mention in the CPR press materials. Wikipedia requires such verification of any data posted here and, outside of one undated photograph that could well have been his coming up to the stage on one occasion (or at an entirely unrelated event), it is inaccurate to state that he was a participant in the tour. Regardless of Scott's participation, it was still inaccurate for CPR to declare the Moffatts as being reunited without Dave's participation.
And in response to that: Scott said himself that he would be doing the Holiday Train with his two brothers. There are pictures of him up on stage together with his brothers from several if not all of the stops the tour made. They performed what was said to be the first single by the new band they have formed [Scott, Bob, Clint and Steve from the Boston Post], a song called 'I Love You'. In addition, the press release from the CPR website mentioning only Bob and Clint was not a new press release but a recycling of the one from the year before, 2003, when only those two took part in the Holiday Train. This was confirmed by fans who'd saved the press release from the year before to use on their website [in case CPR took it down]. Why they didn't bother writing a new one, I don't know. Because of that, a lot of fans were wondering if Scott really was going to be there, but he was there, at EVERY show. I have a few video clips of him and his brothers singing and several more pictures of them singing together with the Ennis sisters [the girls in the picture] and also pictures that clearly show that they are standing on a CPR train stage if that will help settle matters. For example this one hosted on CPR's own website, showing Scott beneath the huge banner saying Canadian Pacific together with Clint on bass and Bob on drums with the Ennis sisters in the back: http://www8.cpr.ca/cms/English/Media/Photo+Gallery/Holiday+Train/default.htm?Show=Entertainers Is that proof good enough that he was there or do you want me to round up fans who went to different shows to state that Scott was in fact present at every location?
And yes, according to Scott they did not authorize CPR referring to them as 'The Moffatts' and he was pretty pissed, stating that it was not the Moffatts as long as Dave wasn't there, that this was a new band, separate of the Moffatts, etc.
For further information, this picture: http://www8.cpr.ca/cms/English/Media/Photo+Gallery/Holiday+Train/default.htm?Show=Clint%20and%20Bob%20Moffatt shows only Bob and Clint and was taken in 2002, the year the press release is originally from.
If the press releases are truly that poorly written, I think CPR should surely be held at fault -- and if I were any of the Moffatts I would request a correction. However, since this release is the direct source material, it has to be respected as it stands. I think since the Wikipedia article n notes that there's a dispute as to the accuracy of the materials and refers the readers to this discussion page, I think it covers all bases. People can make up their own minds as to the accuracy of the press release.
UPDATE: http://www8.cpr.ca/cms/English/General+Public/Holiday+Train/Bios/default.htm#moffatts
This page has mp3s of songs performed 'in previous years' and it lists Clint, Bob and Scott Moffatt for the song 'Hang On'. Scrolling down, it talks about 'the Moffatts' and has pics of Scott, Clint and Bob. The three of them are also confirmed to perform on this years (06) Holiday Train. So shoddy press release indeed. Also, I suggested to Scott that he should bring it up with CPR since the term 'The Moffatts' bothered him, but he said it wasn't that important. I doubt they really care that the press release was recycled and didn't mention Scott, all the fansites confirmed that he was going to be there so the fans were aware.
This article is horrible!
[edit]This article is horrible! And it seems like it was written by a Moffat member. Its almost written like a first person narrative. Phrases like-"but now chose to go it alone with Scott on lead guitar" sound unencyclopedic. Also there are he said-she said phrases everywhere. Here is a example-"Frank's take on these comments were - "The Moffatts break up had nothing to do with Dave's sexuality, but it does make for good press." Where is this source that Frank said that? Isn't this slanderous to say that someone said something without a source, like a magazine article or something?--74.240.227.203 (talk) 17:52, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
