What is the meaning of the "projected ultimate" number in the box on Bishan (and, noticeably, on the boxes of every other Singapore new town article in wikipedia)? If that's the projected number of total accomodation units, it's not clear that this is so. Alex.tan 01:29, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- They refer to dwelling units. The figures were taken from HDB's statistical reports.--Huaiwei 08:17, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Bishan → Bishan, Singapore – for disambiguation with Bishan District, China, which is much larger and more populous than the Singaporean neighbourhood. Zanhe (talk) 01:06, 31 August 2014 (UTC)

- Support "Bishan" should be a disambiguation page [1] -- 65.94.169.222 (talk) 05:50, 31 August 2014 (UTC)
Support No argument for the Singaporean neighborhood to be the primary topic. Timmyshin (talk) 05:29, 3 September 2014 (UTC)See below. Timmyshin (talk) 23:18, 9 September 2014 (UTC)- Support but make the Chinese district primary topic. Red Slash 23:47, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
- Well, the Chinese district has the word "District" in the title per WP:NC-ZH. So I think a dab page would be OK. Timmyshin (talk) 02:45, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME and WP:TITLECHANGES. No evidence that Bishan District is commonly referred to as Bishan. And even it is, a dab page buys you nothing, as users still need to click once to get to the article. You know, an article with a hatnote link doubles as a dab page, practically speaking. Why bother with a 2-entry dab page? --В²C ☎ 07:16, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- That's like asking for proof that New York City is commonly referred to as New York. For starter, see Google maps. Also see the numerous results from Google books. If we don't use a dab page, then Bishan District should be the primary topic for Bishan, as it's much more populous as well as historically more significant. -Zanhe (talk) 18:12, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- Actually, I think you are both right. So the best solution is probably to move the Singaporean Bishan to Bishan, Singapore and not use a dab page, redirecting Bishan to Bishan District. Still support. Timmyshin (talk) 23:25, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- I don't know which is primary if any. I don't think it matters. I don't have an objection to making the district the primary topic. My main objection is to creating a 2-entry dab page. --В²C ☎ 00:46, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
- WP:TWODABS allows 2 entry dab pages. In any case it wouldn't be two since the dab needs to include Bishan Railway Station (China) and Bishan MRT Station (Singapore) also both "Bishan" in timetables and railway books. In ictu oculi (talk) 02:36, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

- Support - no primary here between the two 碧山. In ictu oculi (talk) 09:53, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- I was going to oppose this on the grounds that there is only one topic with a reliably matching title, but it occurred to me that there are probably missing meanings. It seems likely to me that Bishan Road and Bishan MRT Station are referred to as "Bishan" in certain contexts (although both are subtopics of the Singapore city), and there are several people sharing the given name - Bishan Singh Bedi, Bishan Singh, Bishan Narayan Dar, Bishan Singh Ram Singh. There is also, apparently, a notable village in China also called Bishan, which at first glance seems to be at least a distinct political entity from the current district. In light of this, disambiguation is probably in order. I therefore support the move. bd2412 T 18:51, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
