Operation Crossbow

[edit]

Original article stated "US Army Air Force begins attacks" but the linked article clearly states RAF and RCAF involvement (to a greater degree than USAAF). Therefore revision to "Allied air forces" seems a reasonable edit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.168.151.159 (talk) 18:24, 5 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

rubbish ?

[edit]

"Day of the Ninja"? really? will anyone care in 50 years? or, indeed, 10? I can't see why this should be in here.--Robert EA Harvey (talk) 10:57, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

since noticed that the original page was the subject of a delete discussion Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Day_of_the_Ninja--Robert EA Harvey (talk) 11:00, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

repeal day

[edit]

Is this a holiday or recurrent event in the US? If not, it should surely be just a bullet point in the list, under 1933?--Robert EA Harvey (talk) 11:04, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

fraternitys

[edit]

anyone else sick of fraternity's popping up on this day? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.83.201.54 (talk) 19:46, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • The establishment of the first collegiate fraternity (now one of the most respected honor societies) at one of the oldest universities in the United States is clearly listworthy per WP:DOY. The repeated removal by you and other 95.83.*.* IPs (probably the same individual with dynamic IPs) makes me think you're the only one who is "sick" of it. --Kinu t/c 00:20, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

for whom? Americans? "now one of the most respected honor societies" Is this a fact or your opinion "makes me think you're the only one who is "sick" of it" have you conducted a poll of all/some users of wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.204.189.156 (talk) 12:46, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Kinu: Thanks for trying to keep the daily list interesting. I saw this little conflict and followed your link to a previous version of today's list, and I see that after all, the Phi Beta Kappa note was deleted, as well as the first broadcast day for Monty Python. Speaking for myself, I like the On This Day section because it sometimes spurs my interest to do a bit of reading in an area I wouldn't have thought of otherwise. Seeing the anniversary of Phi Beta Kappa's creation, or the Monty Python first broadcast would have been very welcome for me. What's left after their deletion is a list mainly of politicians and battles. I'm disappointed.Cellodont (talk) 14:45, 5 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Removed events

[edit]

I reluctantly removed the following events:

I can't find sources for the first two, and the third doesn't seem notable to me. Alexbook (talk) 06:46, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Einstein's visa

[edit]

I can't find a source for it being Dec. 5, but The Guardian has Dec. 7. Thoughts? Rkaufman13 (talk) 15:20, 14 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Death of Jayalalithaa

[edit]

The article includes the death of J. Jayalalithaa, but according to the article on Jayalalithaa, she died on December 4. Should it be moved to the December 4 page? The section J Jayalalithaa#Illness, death and reactions says "On 5 December 2016, the hospital announced her death around 23:30 and she became the first female chief minister to die in office in India" so I'm reluctant to move it myself.  Done Removed. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 05:08, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
