It's May 2005 now. I haven't heard much news about Dark Cloud 3 since early last year, and I can't find any other info on it after a few quick searches (heck, I even don't know where Level-5's website is). Does anyone know anything about DC3? Elemental Knight 15:44, 13 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Apparently, it was only said in an interview and no official annoucement has been made; I've adjusted the article accordingly. Clearly Diluted 01:31, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Ridiculous factual check requests

[edit]

Why are there superfluous fact check requests in this article? You've got them in areas of the gameplay description - how exactly is one meant to source such things? Also, these gameplay elements that supposedly need fact checking are obvious to anyone who's actually played the game. I'm removing them unless someone can provide me with a decent argument as to why they should be there because I honestly don't feel they need to be there. If you're going to randomly write [citation needed] tags in this article, then every video game article that talks about the gameplay needs citations, too. Evidence for Dark Cloud 2/Dark Chronicle as a true sequel

[edit]

Planetary observations: The world has two moons - one yellow (Yellow Drops) and one blue. The original Dark Cloud is told as a story that already happened on a world with two moons.

Repeat races: Many monsters, humans and Moon People.

{{spoiler}}

Repeat characters: Jurak (Tree Fairy), Master Utan and . . . . the Dark Genie (much weaker than in the original. I guess hate isn't as strong in Dark Cloud 2).

Repeat themes: Varying levels of technology dependent on location, giant Mecha, main villain messes with time, assumed main villain creates the "real" main villain.

Blatantly obvious repeats: One of Monica's weapons - reference to Aga, Toan's "missing" father from DC1, who was also a great swordsman.

{{endspoiler}}

Conclusion: It's the same planet, a few thousand years after Toan and his partners defeated the Dark Genie.

However, it is noted at the point in Dark Chronicle where Monica and Max travel 10,000 years into the past and first encounter Griffon that there is only a single moon in orbit. This point in the timeline must have occured sometime before the events with Toan and the others in Dark Cloud. InvaderJim42 15:41, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That's a good observation. Bear Eagleson
Your "points" don't really mean anything. Unless Level-5 outright says it's a sequel, I'm inclined NOT to believe it's a sequel. Also, games like Final Fantasy feature references to previous games, but they're not direct sequels to each other; saying it's a direct sequel is only fan speculation. Typed up a new, longer Plot summary

[edit]

Okay everyone, I gave it my best attempt to type up a longer and fuller plot summary. Please feel free to look it over and make any necessary edits which I may have missed.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 03:48, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't the boss of Final Fantasy III called Dark Cloud?

[edit]

Because people may be looking for that. Sir Crazyswordsman 01:45, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What exactly is your point? Serph 23:38, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are there any good walkthroughs or guides on this site for this game?

[edit]

I'm wondering, that's all. ShakenMike2 20:31, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia doesn't allow that sort of content. Try http://www.gamefaqs if you need help with games. Oni no Akuma 09:24, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Settle on a region

[edit]

People keep switching "Norune" to "Nolun", which is the name of Norune Village in the PAL version. We need to settle on a region. I believe we should use the North American name of the village. Additionally, the name of the village in the Japanese version is "Norn" (you can see the name on the large sign in front of the village). I'm going to revert all instances of "Nolun" back to "Norune", but make note of the name differences in name according to region. If anyone has any problems with this, respond. Serph 07:49, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I feel someone should write a compressed version of the Story section - it really shouldn't be that long. I'd do it myself, but it's been years since I played the game. Serph 08:00, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

The old article said the back room key to the Gallery of Time did not exist in the American version, but several reliable sources have found it since then. Has anyone found it personally, to verify further? Master Jaken 23:50, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I found it once. It is exceedingly rare. Thunderbird8 (talk) 08:25, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

King Raybrandt

[edit]

I removed the part saying Seda made a cameo in Dark Chronicle. I don't think it can be proved they're one and the same.

Link?

[edit]

Does anyone not find it a little disturbing how the character in the cover features an amazing resemblance to Link from Zelda? Except Link does not usually grin... 189.27.3.140 (talk) 07:38, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They look nothing alike. Also, what exactly does this have to do with the article? This isn't a message board or a journal. Serph (talk) 06:18, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Come on, they clearly share some resemblances. And it makes sense they do, considering Sony publicly stated this game would be a "Zelda killer" before its release (one of many preposterous Sony statements). Revendetta (talk) 09:43, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Evidence Dark Cloud 3 rumor is a hoax

[edit]

On many sites and forums there is mention of a new Dark Cloud 3 being in the make. Although I can't exclude Level-5 is actually working on it, I am pretty sure it is all based on a hoax. Somebody scanned a page from an Italian PC magazine and then photoshopped it in a pretty poor way to make everybody believe it. When you look at the page you clearly see the font of the Dark Cloud article is distinctly different from all other articles on the page. The original article was about a boxing game for PSP. http://sonydrone.wordpress.com/2007/10/13/rumor-dark-cloud-3-in-the-works/ AberforthD (talk) 23:49, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
